Find Refuge Through Poems Of Comfort

By Tiffany Gill

Seeking refuge in the palliating arms of someone you love is not easy to do. Many people seek privacy during periods of grief in order to express themselves privately in the safety and security of home. Often they feel that others do not understand the weightiness of their anguish. By turning to poems of comfort, they have the ability to express their grief, by reading the written words of others who have experienced similar loss.

Feeling the heart felt words, expressed by someone else who has experienced similar pain and suffering somehow seems to make things more bearable. They seem to be able to put into words, the depth of the agony that you have endured. It is almost as if they are taking pen to task with your emotion.

Beginning by enveloping your frailty, they alleviate your emotional despondency. Although you may feel as if you can not accept your loss, they will begin to guide you in the process of acceptance, strength, warmth and love. A verse which allows you to truly feel your grief, will also allow you to begin to heal as well.

These insightful compositions will encourage you to move forward, through the paths of sadness and anger. They will give you confidence to continue your journey, by drawing on your emotional adherence. By bringing the suffering inside and allowing it to present itself itself at your own pace. Thus, encouraging you to push through your heartache one day at a time.

A sonnet of bargains is one full of emotional pleas for the circumstances to change. If only you could go back and make things different, knowing full well that the bargaining will not change the course of your grief. For that brief moment, it makes it seem almost possible that if you make the right promises, you could change the past and make your pain vanish.

The uniqueness of depressive poetry is that you are alone in your suffering. You may feel that you are alone and that you are clearly the only person who has ever felt devastation such as this. These compositions present the pain of the writer into words that substantiate your depression. Once you feel that you have been understood, you are able to see more clearly the way to work through the obstacles.

Finding peace in lyrical words of acceptance, you begin to see that your life will move forward even though you have endured immense emotional pain and loss. Although you will continue to feel the loss, you have come to the point where you are able to continue on your journey. You may find it easier to gain this acceptance by knowing that others have endured during this process.

Succor often begins with reading the lyrics that others, who have walked this path before you, have written. Immerse yourself in the strength of their compassion. Feel their sorrow, watch as they face their loss, as they gain acceptance of things out of their control, as their own personal dysphoria disappears while they regain their resolve. Discover peacefulness that can only be found through poems of comfort.
