Determining A Real Sheepskin And A Faux Sheepskin Rug

By Jeffrey Reynolds

People always wanted to look good that is why they are very much concerned with what they wear. They do not get contented with having only one style of clothing and accessories. They always wanted to look for something better and that is the reason why most clothing lines are often releasing various kinds of clothes for almost every month.

Most garments and clothing, especially in those that are in places where cold climate occurs often, are using animals skins because they are very thick and is an effective way in combating the cold weather. Sheepskin is one of those animal skins that have been used by some clothing lines in incorporating in some of their apparels. But you should know that not all clothing lines are using a genuine sheepskin, others only use a faux sheepskin rug.

A faux sheepskin is a fake skin of the sheep and is made of synthetic fibers designed to resemble fur, normally as part of a piece of clothing or any other accessories. There are already many clothing nowadays that are using these skins because of its smooth and soft fur. If you are planning to buy clothing like a jacket or boots or any other accessories, here are some ways on how to determine a real from a faux skins of sheep.

Look at the brand names. If you know some brand names that are using genuine skins of sheep and those that are not, then it is an advantage for you. But, be aware also for the fake brand since they are also scattered around the globe.

Examine the label. Each and every genuine clothes has a hooked up label. The labels of clothes and garments are normally found at the sides, like in a scarf and in a jacket. The labels of every garment would speak of what comprises the clothing itself.

See the price. For the most part, genuine skins are really very expensive. It is because it is very difficult to obtain one. Once you see that the price is at low cost then the garment is more probably artificial.

Caress the garment. A genuine sheepskin is always smooth when you touch it. There is always this warmth and comfy feeling when you touch and caress a true skin. However, the fake skins are often rough when touching it. You could really feel the coarse texture of the skin when touching it and this because it is only made up of synthetic fibers and is blended with plastic components.

Strike a pin through the cloth. When you strike the pin through cloth and it passes smoothly then it is probably a synthetic skin because this type is blended with plastic fiber so the pin can run smoothly in it. However, those real skins are very compact and rigid since they really come from real sheep unlike those faux skins which are only artificial. When you strike a pin through a true skin, it would often recoil because of its compactness.

There are actually a lot of shops out there who are offering products that they said are made of real sheepskin materials but it turns out to be synthetic. If you are not familiar with the material, you could easily be persuaded. If you are really planning to have real skins of sheep, better try to do a research first before heading directly to the mall.
