Steps On How To Clean The Faux Sheepskin Rug Properly

By Robert Turner

A sheepskin is the hide of sheep and this may also be referred to as lambskin. Leather types are usually tanned with fleece intact such as pelts but sheepskins do not have these. There are already manufacturers that have been using these materials for the production of baby rugs and invalid rugs, slippers, covering, pelts, gloves, hats, clothing, automotive seat covers, and footstools.

Wool or fleece is being considered as well by most medical professions as being hypoallergenic. Sheepskins are already being considered as an insulator which can draw away the perspiration coming from the wearer into the fibers. In history, sheepskin coats, boots, vests, and faux sheepskin rug were used commonly by people. The following are the steps on the proper cleaning of this item while the quality is maintained.

First is to fill in the tub with tepid warm water then the appropriate type of liquid solution or powder for this particular material. And since a wool or fleece material is being used, be sure to the use the delicate wool solution and a small amount to the water. The item surely contains a label of instructions so make sure to follow them carefully to maintain its quality and as well as the appearance.

Using hot water in washing would be fine. However, using this excessively may bring unnecessary disadvantages. Some disadvantages include resulting to a difficult rinsing process, the leather becomes damaged and shrunk, the colors may possibly fade, the wool piles may felt, and there maybe some dirt and stains and it maybe hard to remove them.

When an item is being washed, use a woolskin shampoo and conditioner instead of wool detergents. Typically, these wool detergents have some toxic chemicals such as phosphoric acid, peroxide, phosphates, chelating agents, sequestering agents, bleach, alkali, enzymes, and triethanolamine. These chemicals may cause harm and damage to leather.

Position the rug in tube fleece in side down. Be sure to immerse the material fully into a warm water. Similar to the washing processes of other clothing, the rug may be left soaked in water for several minutes with the solution in the mixture. Through this, removing the dirt can be done much easier and allowing the solution scent to be absorbed. Scrubbing it forcibly for removing excess dirt must be avoided.

Next is hand washing the item gently. There are times when some dirt or stains are left, so never scrub the item or brush it because this can possibly cause damage. After the stains have been removed, rinse the item well using a fresh water. Wash it continuously until you can see clear water having no bubbles.

After all the processes, the sheepskin must be drained first before removing it from tub. And using a comb, comb the fur very gently in order to return its softness when dried. Combing can prevent it from having small that would look ugly. An important reminder is to avoid brushing harshly for the prevention of falling down. And also, comb it in only one direction.

When drying it up, laying it down in side down position with fleece can be done, or maybe hanging it for a drip drying. Make sure to hang it away from sunlight. Excess heat damage your wool. Using the dryer maybe done as well as long as the setting is in fluff or gentle cycle only.
