Some Important Gift Ideas For Nurses

By Brenda Mitchell

Buying a gift is not as easy as one would want it. This is more so when it is the desire of the giver to present it as a surprise to the person. When gifts are presented, it could be as a reward for hard work, kindness or just for friendship. If you are thinking of buying something special for a nurse, it is important to consider some notable gift ideas for nurses to know what he or she may truly desire.

One of the things your nurse friend will like is a travel mug. The travel mug with the 'Super Nurse' label is approved by the FDA and is useful for carrying cold drinks around. There is no doubt that she will like this especially during lunch time or breaks when she wants to have some rest before her next round.

Since it is awkward for a nurse to carry handbags during work, a better option would be purchasing an organizer kit. An organizer kit is more portable and can be used to carry everyday hospital items such as the syringe, scissors and pens. Having an organizer kit also increases her safety because she could avoid accidents from carrying sharp objects in her pockets. It will also help her to keep her valuables safely without fear of losing them.

It is also advisable to get her a pair of nurse knee socks especially if she works at nights when the weather is usually cold. Besides the cold weather, the knee socks are also valuable for avoiding contamination with reagents during work. Nurse socks are special because they are designed with some descriptions and diagrams such as the syringe, stethoscope and those items they use at work.

A story book to encourage her as she continues in school or perseveres in her career will be most appreciated. Some nurse stories have been compiled to help students and workers in the field to know that there could be challenges on the way and that any challenge can be surmounted by applying the right principles.

Nurses make use of the highlighter when reading or making notes. It is not good for them to run out of it so bringing a pack of them as a gift is not bad. You can make the presentation more colorful by getting highlighters with the design of a syringe or thermometer if available.

Getting her books on surviving techniques as a nurse or a student is very necessary. There are many of such books out there that give practical guide on how to overcome every bit of challenge in the profession. Reading the book will also inform her that her success is your top priority.

Above all, the nurse will feel special when she gets to know that you submitted her name for an award or recognition. There is nothing better than a thoughtful gift in expressing your gratitude to her. You can write her a personal letter or send her a meal with a 'thank you' note attached to it.
