Knowing The Very Talented Emmy Award Winner Rick Overton

American television has since been graced with talents that have made it a much colorful venue and melting pot for such personalities. Many people may have secured their breaks, but were not able to sustain their streaks. There are some that have managed to shine through with sheer perseverance and talent. Among these people is Emmy Award Winner Rick Overton.

He is known as a very reputable script writer. This has been evidence in the nods and recognition that he has secured out of establishing a career penning scripts for the television industry. He is an actor and a comedian too. His comedic side is attributed to the stand-up comedy that he used to do back in his high school years.

There are many writing credits that he is known for. The most popular one would have to be his stint in writing the script for Dennis Miller Live. Several nods were given for his excellent scriptwriting here. He received the Emmy award for his talent in scriptwriting for this same series back in 1996. He is credited for firms and video materials as as the Secret Adventures of Jules Verne film and Willow.

Mr. Overton was actually born in Queens in New York, he was born in Forest Hills. He did grow up in Englewood in New Jersey. Nancy Swain, his mother is famous for the personal appearances she and while performing as member of the Chordettes. His father, Hal is one who happen to hail from a known musical family. He is a band arranger specifically for the Thelonious Monks. Also, he works as a music teacher in the renowned Julliard Institute.

The first appearance he had on screen was for the film Young Doctors in Love. It was released in the year 1982. A small role in the Airplane II movie was what he took next. In the year 1987, he penned New Adventures of Beans Baxter. While penning this, he also appeared in such works as the Amazing Stories, Million Dollar Mystery, ad well as in Willow.

He has dabbled in the music industry as well. He is known to actually play the harmonica. For occasional performance, he uses this when playing with some of the blues bands in the local scene. In addition, his career as a stand up comedian actually started in high school. This was when he was part of the duo Overton and Sullivan. He has to go solo though in the 1970s.

He was nominated for an Emmy for Dennis Miller Live in 1997. This is in the category Outstanding Writing for a Variety or a Music Program. He won the same Category for the same show in 1996. He was also nominated by the Writers Guild of America for the Dennis Miller Live Series in the Comedy/Variety Category. These cemented his reputation as an outstanding script writer.

An avid motorcyclist, he's known to take part in many charity rides. For instance, he is a regular in the love ride, which is for the annual ride in celebration of the Muscular Atrophy. He loves to build models in his spare time too and has won awards for the sci-fi category in certain convention.
